The Northwest Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra will present its next concert Thursday evening.

Assistant Professor of Music and Symphony conductor Doctor Robert Pippin says the concert will feature holiday favorites.

"The concert is going to consist of two multi-movement works - Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, such a holiday favorite that everyone will recognize.  And then we'll follow that up with a movement from Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 which is better known as the New World Symphony.  And that piece marks a pretty significant endeavor for the Northwest Symphony.  It's one of the bigger pieces we've ever attempted and we're really proud of the work we've done on it. It's going to be an amazing piece for the Maryville community."

The concert begins Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
